Ikki Tousen: Shuugaku Toushi Keppuuroku - Kan'u Unchou 1/7 - Swimsuit

We recently reviewed Griffon's Ryomou figurine which was based on an illustration featuring both Kanu and Ryomou. Here's the Kanu part.

Kanu comes in a rather large box. The reason for this is the oversized base which was presumably included to accommodate both the girls. The Kanu figurine was released a few months after Ryomou.

One thing you might find difficulty with is attaching her bikini. Lets get this out of the way.

The left strap of her bikini has a small protrusion which goes into her mouth. The right strap fits into the top of her right hand. The strap extension is a separate piece which fits at the bottom of the same hand. A strap goes around her back and connects to the front of her bikini (all these points are circled in blue). Attaching the bikini is a maddening exercise in patience and co-ordination. Even when attached, it is very easy for it to become detached at some point.

Her face is interchangeable for one which does not have her with an open mouth. This is to pose her without the bikini strap in her mouth and most likely, without the bikini at all! To change the face, her hair must be detached. The hair consists of two pieces which connect the the front and back of the face. There is a notable seam line but this is only visible when viewed directly from the top.

Overall this is a good figurine. The paintwork had no noticeable flaws and the sculpting is great. It's not the most exciting figurine, Kanu never shows much emotion and most of her face is obscured by her hair. Her long hair means you're limited with leaving her face forwards at all times unlike the Ryomou figurine which has a nice butt ;)

Trying to emulate the source illustration

It's hard to put them closer together because they're kneeling.

When Kanu's bikini is removed, her right hand sticks out awkwardly, almost like she's casually trying to punch someone.

Ryomou no baka!
Don't look!

Both figurines are castoffable so without further ado:

This Kanu figurine is decent and worth adding to you collection if you're a fan. As a pair, these two are quite a spectacle! I still think it would be better if they were standing instead of kneeling though.
If I could only choose one and I liked both characters equally, I'd go for Ryomou. I think she's slightly more vibrant and more versatile to display.
